For a move from Pakistan to Abu Dhabi, focus first on the verified employer or residence route, a usable document file and an arrival budget. A verbal promise from a recruiter should not be the basis for resigning, shipping belongings or booking a non-refundable family move.
Check the employment chain
Confirm the employer's legal name, workplace and written offer. Verify any intermediary through the relevant official channels. Ask who handles work authorisation, residence processing, medical appointments and the first accommodation. Keep the answers in writing so that responsibilities are clear if schedules change.
Prepare records in the requested form
Compare names and dates on passports, qualifications and family certificates. Obtain the receiving authority's instructions before paying for attestations or translations. Keep originals with you and protect scans with restricted sharing rather than distributing an unrestricted folder to several agents.
Plan the first salary gap
Include travel, temporary living costs and continuing household commitments in Pakistan. Decide how family support will be paid before local banking is established. Keep a separate emergency reserve and avoid judging affordability from salary alone when housing and transport benefits remain uncertain.
Check the Pakistan departure process separately
UAE permission to enter and Pakistan's overseas employment formalities are different matters. The Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment publishes rules for registration through the Protector of Emigrants, including direct employment. Check the live procedure that applies to your employment and passport circumstances before booking departure. A direct offer from a UAE company should not be assumed to remove the Pakistan side of the process.
If using an overseas employment promoter, verify its status through the Bureau rather than treating a social media profile as a licence. Retain the employer agreement, promoter details and every receipt. Ask which payments are official charges, which are optional services and which organisation receives each amount. An instruction to pay into an unrelated personal account needs independent verification.
The Bureau's published material includes older procedural documents with fee figures. Use the current registration service and official payment instructions for an amount payable now. This guide does not reproduce a total because the applicable route, insurance and administrative requirements need checking for the individual departure.
Compare the actual package in AED
Convert the written package into an AED cash flow before comparing it with present earnings in Pakistan. Separate basic pay, guaranteed allowances, conditional bonuses and benefits supplied directly. If housing means a shared employer residence, ask for its location, room arrangement and transport schedule. It is not equivalent to receiving money to rent an independent family apartment.
List continuing commitments at home, including education, household support, loan instalments and medical spending. Allow for transfer charges and exchange movements without assuming today's conversion will last. Discuss with your bank how to access the account abroad and which contact details must be updated when your residence changes.
An illustrative planning exercise is to place arrival costs and two sets of household obligations on a calendar up to the first confirmed salary date. Use actual quotations and your own amounts. The purpose is to identify a funding gap, not to imply that every worker needs the same savings balance.
Prepare qualifications and family records early
Ask the UAE receiving authority which education and relationship records it needs, then confirm the appropriate Pakistan and UAE attestation route. A degree, marriage certificate and child’s birth record can have different issuing and verification paths. Check names against passports before ordering certified copies. Keep a traceable record when an original is passed to an authorised courier or service.
If travelling first and sponsoring family later, carry the documents needed for that later stage where practical, but verify eligibility before buying dependant flights. Ask about insurance for each person, not just the employee. School admission and family residence processing are separate decisions and should have separate fallback dates.
Plan communication and first accommodation
Keep access to your Pakistan number long enough to change banking and account authentication safely. Save the employer's official contact and arrival address offline. Confirm who meets you, when the temporary room ends and what happens if onboarding takes longer than planned. Avoid arriving with an accommodation promise that contains no address or responsible person.
Do not begin work on a visit or tourist permission. UAE government fraud guidance explains that a visitor's entry status does not authorise employment. Verify the applicable work process with the employer and responsible authority. The first 24 hours guide helps keep the arrival manageable while those formal steps are completed.
Before leaving, give a trusted contact the verified employer details, accommodation address and copies of essential travel references. Keep the official Pakistan registration evidence available with your own file. If the advertised terms change before departure, compare the replacement agreement line by line instead of assuming only the salary changed. Ask the responsible official channel about unresolved discrepancies before incurring another nonrefundable cost.
If the first accommodation is employer supplied, ask how belongings are secured and whether cooking and laundry are available. These details affect what to carry and how much arrival spending to allow. Request the actual transport pickup point and work schedule so a promised room and a promised transport benefit form a workable daily arrangement.
